ABOUT SDFOODY Based in sunny San Diego, California, this collection of humble restaurant reviews and recipes grows out of a love for food: food from all cultures, of all ethnic backgrounds, and for all generations. This zealous appreciation for all edible consumables stemmed from childhood years and bloomed into an unsatiated chase after the tastiest soups, dips, entrees, desserts. Growing up, I watched my mom create wondrous concoctions in her lilliputian, but cozy, kitchen. She, in her omniscient ways, knew how to combine the most unlikely of ingredients to produce a stovetop of delights, always with a pinch of care and a dash of detail. Elation was tasting the strip-sliced calamari sauteed with a tapioca-flour-and-oyster-sauce marinade with biased- cut zucchini. Her spaghetti was no ordinary pasta dish; it was always made the way my brother and I preferred, with real tomato chunks reduced in a large pot for hours, with additions of fresh, diced pineapples and sliced Italian turkey sausage. Fascination abounded watching my mom skim the grease from every single dish made in that tiny kitchen and seeing the bowl of skimmed fat globules grow as the dish itself was made leaner. I have since honed my novice culinary skills to make dishes with equal care. In part, this blog pays homage to my mom and the palate-pleasers produced from my childhood to present day. At SDfoody, we passionately seek tasty and healthy cuisine. Healthy eats are not only good for the body, they're good for the soul, too, no? After a well-balanced and nourishing meal, an energy jolt and positive vibes surpass the uplifting effects a stimulant can possibly promise anyday, in my humble opinion!
