Cafe Chloe

Everytime I feel like taking in the ambiance of Paris, I head for the trendy and uber-popular Cafe Chloe in the Gaslamp.

John and I came here for brunch this past Sunday and were seated after a 30-minute wait. We started our meal with the cafe's delicious espressos, sweetened with sugar cubes, while we waited for my order of dungeness crab cake tartine with aioli and fennel slaw and John's order of brie and herb omelette with grilled boudin blanc sausage and fingerling potatoes.

The fennel slaw and crab cake, carefully layered on a piece of richly buttered toast, was the perfect complement to the creaminess of the crab mound and the peppery, celery-like fennel.

A slice of the sausage, potatoes, apple, gingerly forked into the omelette with melted brie, provided a tasty combination of flavors that simply melded together.

The best part about Cafe Chloe is the wonderful staff and service: very attentive and polite, gracious and hospitable. Great service and delicious food, a very hard-to-beat combination.
